Modern sites need 6+ favicon variants. This generator builds the full set from one source, 16x16, 32x32, 96x96, 180x180 Apple touch, 192x192 + 512x512 PWA, plus the manifest.json.

HTML to drop in your <head>

<link rel="icon" type="image/png" sizes="32x32" href="/favicon-32.png" />
<link rel="icon" type="image/png" sizes="16x16" href="/favicon-16.png" />
<link rel="apple-touch-icon" sizes="180x180" href="/apple-touch-icon-180.png" />
<link rel="manifest" href="/site.webmanifest" />

Frequently asked questions

What sizes do I really need? +

Minimum modern set: favicon-32 (browser tab), apple-touch-icon-180 (iOS home screen), android-chrome-192 + 512 (Android home + PWA install), plus the manifest.json. This generator outputs all of those plus 16 and 96 for legacy compatibility.

Where do I upload the files? +

All files go in your domain root (so they're accessible at /favicon-32.png, /apple-touch-icon-180.png, etc.). Then add the link tags shown in the page footer to your HTML <head>.

Does this generate .ico files? +

No, .ico is a legacy Windows format. Modern browsers all prefer PNG favicons via <link rel='icon'>. The 16x16 PNG covers the use case .ico used to. If you need .ico for legacy IE compatibility, convert favicon-32.png separately.

What's the best source image size? +

512×512 or larger, square, simple shape, high contrast. Detailed logos lose definition at 16px and 32px. If your full logo doesn't reduce well, use a simplified mark (just the symbol, not the full logotype) for favicon use.
